The 2023 working conference of the Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts (JB&B) was held in the Academic Lecture Hall of Liangxi via online and offline methods simultaneously. The conference was hosted by editor-in-Chief Prof. Huining Xiao. Prof. Tongming Yin delivered an opening speech at the conference. More than ten editorial board members and the invited experts from China participated in the conference.

Prof. Tongming Yin expressed his appreciation to all the experts and editorial board members who have been supporting JB&B for a long time. He pointed out that the rapid growth of JB&B has played an important role in the high-quality development of the university and the international exchanges of first-class disciplines. JB&B has been officially included in the ESCI database, which is indispensable for the hard work of the editor in chief, the editorial board members and the editorial board. Prof. Tongming Yin hoped that more efforts should be made to realize the established development goals as soon as possible.

Prof. Yonghao Ni, Academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and the Honorary Editor-in-Chief of JB&B, attended the online conference. He congratulated JB&B on its current achievements and expressed his continued support for the journal's development. Academician Prof. Jianchun Jiang, Co-Editor-in-Chief of JB&B, expressed his gratitude to Editor-in-Chief Prof. Huining Xiao for her fruitful work and said that he would continue to support him as much as possible.

Editor-in-chief Prof. Huining Xiao introduced the current development of JB&B, analyzed the main problems existing in the journal development, and focused on the deployment of the next key work. The participating editorial board members and invited experts fully affirmed the progress made by JB&B, and had a full discussion on recruiting the Youth Editorial Board, organization of the special topic for the year 2024, and the organization and publicity of international and domestic conferences. The participating experts unanimously expressed that they would complete the work of inviting manuscripts on time and contribute to the further improvement of the international influence of JB&B. Director of Editorial Office, Dr. Huicong Cao, introduced the recent work plan and the requirements of manuscripts in the coming period in detail.

With the concern and support of the Nanjing Forestry University and the help of experts domestic and abroad, JB&B has made significant progress. The editorial department will make more efforts to promote the construction of high impact of JB&B, improve the international influence of journals, and continue to push JB&B towards the development of world-class journal.
